Bio

Mary is a Four Year Member of the International Executive Board and a member of Alpha Delta Kappa for 37 years.  During that time, she has been fortunate to serve in many leadership roles, including at the Regional (Membership Consultant, Sergeant-at-Arms and Chaplain) and International levels (Chairman of the World Understanding and Resolutions Committees).  Most recently, she served as the International Vice President for the Northeast Region during the 2019-2021 biennium. 

Mary serves as the Chairman of the 2023-2025 AΔK CONNECT Committee and has presented several online workshops on navigating the community platform.  In addition, she is serving as the liaison to the International Bylaws Committee for the 2023-2025 biennium.


Mary's professional goals have been focused on advocacy for children with diverse learning abilities and their families.  She began her career as a teacher of children with intellectual disabilities.  Prior to retiring in 2012, she served as the Executive Director/Chief Officer for Student Support Services for Columbus City Schools in Ohio.  After retirement, Mary worked with the Ohio Department of Education as a trainer and assessor for the Resident Educator program.

In her spare time, Mary loves to travel, read books, and go to Ohio State University football and basketball games.
