Bio

I have been an educator since 1971, teaching at the junior high school, high school, technical college, junior college, and university levels in Oklahoma, Alabama and Alaska.  After retiring in 2014 from the public school sector, I became an adjunct at a local junior college in Palmer. I am married to a retired  University of Alaska Anchorage mathematics professor.

We have one married daughter who lives and works as a chemical engineer in Colorado.  She and her husband have two dogs and two cats so we are blessed with four grand pets.  I love to do crafts, visit with friends and family, read, and play word games.

I am a Sapphire sister being initiated into Alabama Beta Iota Chapter and transferring to Alaska Alpha Chapter after moving to Alaska in 1997. Before moving to Alaska in 1997, I was a member of the Alabama State Executive Board.  I have served on the Alaska State Executive Board in many positions including chaplain, recording secretary, treasurer and  as the  2008-2010 Alaska State President.

In 2022 I was elected as Northwest Regional President Elect and at the 2023 International Convention in Kansas City, I was proud be be installed as the first Northwest Regional President.

I am also a Regioneer having attended many Gulf Regional, Northwest Regional and NW/SW Regional Conferences.  In 2018 at the Joint NW/SW Regional Conference in Anchorage I was a Co-Chair with Mary Ann Englehart.  Today we are serving as two of the seven first Regional Presidents. Therefore, we will be planning  the next Joint Conference which is to be in Bellevue, Washington, in 2024. And, our Co-Chairs for this conference will be past NW IVP Glad Loreen and past SW IVP Mollie Acosta whom we worked with in 2018.  Together again--what a foursome!
